Derailment formed on January 22nd, 2021. Originating from Metuchen, NJ, it all started as a group of friends having a fun jam session who ended up forming a band out of it. After quickly writing songs from that session, as well as further jams and rehearsals, the band played their first show on April 2nd later that year.

The band’s lineup currently consists of guitarists Roman Stefaniw and Eric Minarchenko, bassist Ernie Pulchny, and drummer Andrew Illuzzi; all of whom share vocal duties. Roman and Ernie are founding members, with Andrew joining the band in place of their original drummer in January 2023. Jon Vartanian joined the band on guitar to expand it into a four piece in June 2023, and was with them until his departure in February 2025, with Eric Minarchenko joining the following month.

Derailment continues to play shows and write music for future releases.
